Thinking about joining the club...
I'm currently looking at an '85 CRX with 130,000 miles on it. The owner wants $500, but I think I can talk him down a bit. I had a few questions for the pro's before I dive in though:
1) Is this a decent price? Im not terribly concerned about the motor, as it will probably be swapped out. Im going and looking at the car tommorow, so I'll know what kind of condition the body is in.
2) How does this year compare with other gen's? Better, worse?
3) Is it an experience proven track car? I'm planning on autox'ing it heavily.
4) Hows the aftermarket? I assume fairly large or this forum wouldn't be that active. In the same vein, what kinds of mods are making proven HP?

It's a good autox car since it's so light. But swaps are harder for that gen CRX. If it's going to be autox'ed heavily then are you sure you want to do a swap on it? It'll put you in the mod class.
If you want a rex, look for 88-91 since you plan on doing modifications. More aftermarket for them and B series swaps are common(if thats what you want).
Most people that Auto-x those gen CRX's have work done to the stock engine...lot's of $...the 2nd gen are easier to mod without putting yourself into different classes...
