Can't decide! Keep the S2K or No? Help me!
so basically...i can't decide what i want to do. I know it is my decision, but i want your opinions.
I have an 05 AP2 with hardtop, coils, j's bolt ons, tune, front lip, etc...
I have been debating an EVO 10.
I can't make up my mind on whether i want to keep the s2k or get the evo 10.
I want a fast street car that i can also race on weekends and autox and time attack events.
The S2000 is my summer car and is NOT a DD. I have another car. If i got the evo 10, it would also be my summer car and NOT a DD.
And if i do keep the s2000, i cant decide on whether to keep it NA or to turbo it...ARGH!
Reasons behind wanting both cars:
The evo 10 gains a lot of power from small mods. Its easy to drive and is very rare where i live. It is also more stout and wont need as much work to handle 400whp, like the s2000 would in the long run. The evo doesnt suffer from traction loss and can fit EXTREMELY aggressive wheels and tires on the stock body. 18x10.5 +18 with 275mm tires without much work.
The s2000 is low, hard, raw and racey. I love the interior and sporty feel. I love how lightweight the S is and how racecar like the handling is. I also love the sleek look of the s2000. And its more of a drivers car. But! i would have to invest A LOT of money into my s2000 before i will be completely satisfied with it. I kind of want the full J's Racing CF body kit and some VOLK CE28N 17x9 +22 wheels and 255 tires all around. But thats a lot of money.
Basically, the car doesnt have to be practical, but it has to be reliable and has to be fun to drive and FAST. I want a car that can hang with the evasive evo on a roadcourse. I want a fast streetable, obd2 passable, time attack car.
Thanks for your time. Help me! Im sick of switching cars and i just want to finally settle on the car that is right for me!
heres my s2000:

s2ks really seem fairly easy to make 400 whp (boosted) on the stock engine, and with good tuning, can be dead nuts reliable still. the drivetrain can take it for a while if you drive nicely (might wanna upgrade the rear, obviously)
its still a honda, and hondas rule.... chassis/brakes/etc are near supercar-level
its probably cheaper for you, overall,(since you already own it) to make the s2k perform how you'd like than buy the evo and do the same......not sure if that would weigh into the decision
that evo is cool though

Seeing that you had a couple of Evo perviously, wouldn't you want to try something totally different? (ie 135i)?
Side note: if you ever want to sell & part out the s2k, I call dibs on the front lip! ;-)

im really torn.
ive owned evo 9's, but never the 10.
other than the weight of the evo 10, i like almost everything about it.
whats making me aggitated with the s2000 right now, is i want to run concave CE28N's and go non staggered. But only way to do that is to go with like J's wide fenders in the front, which wont work with the ap2 front bumber, so its an ongoing thing.
i want aggressive wheels and i want non staggered with a 255mm tire or wider without it being a nightmare.
i dont want to drop 20k into the s2000 and then have some drunk dude plow into me and im out of 20k
if i had the evo and someone plowed into me, the car is worth more, so insurance will cover it.
but it also costs more per month and has high insurance and doesnt have the driver satisfaction overall of the s2000 probably...
i made a list on my computer of all the pros and cons of both cars and they are TIED at 28 cons and 27 pros each, that i can think of.
damnit!!!!!!!!

the evo would be worth "more" when/if wrecked, but new-car depreciation is at an all time high, pretty much.
i think in the end, you'll lose more, mod-for-mod, if you get in a bad wreck with the evo. i think thats a silly reason to buy/not buy a car though. i own my car because i like it, not because its worth "X" value when wrecked! haha

If you're only gonna want like 400-450whp you can just turbo the stock block and make easily 400whp and it would be faster than an evo with the same hp in anything other than from a stop.
i am in the same boat, but more because i need the awd as i dont have a daily as of now,....is your S paid off?? what kind of deal can you get on an evo x??? if you are gonna buy new, get it from south coast mitsu even though i see you are across the usa. its worth the plane ticket and hit on the trade in value if you are trading in.
An evo is WAY easier to make fast, if you part out your J's parts you will have a 400hp evo with just the money used from your part out.
i say keep the S till end of summer, till you can enjoy it one more season and start the part out process at the beginning of summer so there is no rush to sell and pick up a used evo X, but only if you find one that you know without a doubt is not abused.

guys give me good reasons here.
this car isnt my daily driver. its just a weekend car.
i know i can make 350-400whp on the s2000 with a turbo/SC pretty easy, but how useful will it be around a track or in the mountains? probably not much traction id assume.
need more specific reasons to keep or get an evo X.
And for whoever said it...i have ZERO interest in another evo 8/9.

its funny...on honda forums, the evo is viewed as cheaply made and etc and on the EVO forums, the s2000 is viewed as a joke...something not even in the same league as the evo.
its funny how each forum views each car so different. i cant make up my mind!
anyone interested in any of my s2000 parts? lol

am i reading your sig right??? you had a evo, got an S, got another evo, got another S.....now considering an evo again?????? i say keep the S now, otherwise you will just be after another one in a year.
which ones more fun to drive? at the end of the day its on you, you know what? **** that tally you have, because it doesn't do jack **** but give you some meaningless numerical justification. if your passion is for the S2k, keep it. if your passion is for an EVO, by all means get that.
you have to think about it in terms of what you want out of a car, what you need, and what you want. you've seen time and time again the people who have done notable things in an S2000, and im also sure you've seen notable things in an EVO. ask yourself which one fits you, who you want to be, and who you want to beat.

it will be harder and more expensive to make the s2k run up par with the EVO X in a road course... anything making 400 whp will make more lag and less responsive throttle then say an EVO with (worst case) a slightley bigger turbo size then stock at 400 whp... i say if your looking for road course performance nothing beats awd and/or a responsive motor(which both the EVO has)

look at my sig...ive owned 2 evos and 2 s2000's already...i seem to be confused, lol
I will tell you what i want. I want a car that i can drive on the street, that is also a Time Attack MONSTER.
Handling is my number 1 priority, but i also want enough power and traction to beat STI's and EVO 8/9's.
I want a car fast enough around a racetrack to beat GTR's and Z06, while being streetable and looking sexy while doing it...and reliable.
Id like to be almost as fast as the BC CWEST S2000 or as fast as the Evasive EVO, but a street car.
Matt
Keep the S2000. All the money lost switching between cars, and you could have had it boosted by now. I'd much rather have a boosted S2000 than an EVO. Your car is sick as is. Be happy with what you got. Take your time, buy all the best parts you want for boost. Just imagine an ARC FMIC in there.
Why not sell what ever it is you currently daily drive, buy the EVO as a driver and keep the S2K as the weekend / nice weather car? I understand if it is too expensive but it seems like that would give you the best of both worlds.
I say sell the car to me and go buy your stupid EVO.
I'll give you the $15.46 that's in my pocket right now.
Don't miss this opportunity! I know you'll make the right decision.
