Icon2 can a steering gear/rack be adjusted?

ive looked everywhere but can not find any info on this subject.i have a 2001 honda civic 2 door that i had a side impact accident to the front right wheel...after replacing the strut, control arm,tie rod, etc. i noticed an unusual amount of true free play in the steering wheel, plus it started steering like a really ratty go-cart.the car will turn to the left with ease, but its slightly more difficult to turn it to the right.by this time i figured ill go have it alligned, well i did and now i still have the same prob, but the wheels are straight.it still has play in the steering wheel, and still goes easy to the left and harder to the right.my question is,,,can i adjust my rack to fix the prob,or,,,,can i rebuild the rack,or ,,,,,should i be looking for a good junk yard{lol}?
thanx yall

i have exact same thing my car was also hit in the right rear tire replaced the same exact things you did! except mines not that bad it turns the same both ways....
so something might have failed inside the steering rack like a valve or something! you can also check the lines make sure thats all good!

otherwise my rack too went left a little when i aligned it the right tie rod end hardly sits on the inner tie rod... haha kinda risky...

i too wanna find out if it can be adjusted....

worst comes you might just have to buy a new rack? so....

thanx 4 the reply...yours was in the back, mine was in the front.i aint ever herd it having the same prob being hit from the back.the allignment guy i use also said i needed a driver side rear adjustable arm as well(secondary arm).well orileys has got the best deal on those.they call it an ez-arm and i can get it through them for the same price as it would if i were to get it online somewhere.MY ? TO U IS, WHY CANT WE FIND AN ANSWER HERE DIRECTLY ADDRESSING THE STEERING GEAR ADJUSTMENT ISSUE?OH YA BY THE WAY,,,I GOT FRONT AND BACK (UPPER STRUT BARS)...IVE DONE NO hp MODS TO THE CAR AND I NOTICE A DRIVING DIFFERENCE.hmmmmm?
let me know if you find out anything.
