Default I4 or V6 7th gen?

hey everyone, im new here, just kind of introducing myself and asking a question.

i want to get a new accord, 03-05 but i have a few concerns.

ive always wanted the v6 but im fearful that once i get it doing mods would end up being 100% custom parts and i'd be unable to just buy new parts easily

getting the I4 would be cheaper, plus it has a K24A4 which is nice, and ive heard that you can swap out the head with K20A2 to get the torque out of the K24 and the hp K20.

any advice would be appreciated, and i look forward to talking to yall when i get my accord

If you are dead set on modifying it, get the 4 cylinder. Of course the V6 will still be faster. So why buy the engine you have to modify?

V6 is MUCH faster. You can always get an exhaust or intake for it, and keep it bolt on and simple, and it will still have more power at the end of the day, unless you do some kind of turbo kit for the 4, which I believe would be custom made anyway, just like the parts for the V6 would have to be.

I'd say get the v6 and do some bolt ons, stay in factory warranty, and be happy. It gets in the mid 14's stock with the V6, right?

My car does high 14's and it feels great in daily driving.

Get the v6. You will love it. I wouldn't worry about the aftermarket parts mods. There is a pretty reputable company that makes the initial cat deletes, and then after that, you can get a full exhaust from Greddy, Borla and several others. Injen and AEM make a CAI for them.

If that's what you're interested in a 4, i'd just get a TSX with the K24a2 and call it a day. Lighter, handles better, good 6 speed manual from the box.

If the TSX is out of your price range, I think the V6 Accord would be too, unless you were talking about an LX-V6. Modifying the 4 cylinder, to have the same power as the TSX or V6 Accord, would cost you just as much too. It seems you want a car you can modify, for the sake of modifying, which doesn't make sense to me.

Yeah it's pretty much impossible to do a streetable NA build to get the I4 to the V6's level stock. I mean you have 90 hp(if the v6 uses premium) to make up for, along with the torque. Not going to happen without FI.

Yeah it sucks. I wanted a V6 but at the time I really didn't have much of a choice. I really want the 09' V6... Those are pretty quick stock.

An 08 TSX from last gen, maybe still 'new' as in still on the lot, should cost about 25-26k from what i've seen, compared to an 09 V6, which STARTS at 27k with delivery costs included.

nah, around here i found a few v6 accords for like 12-14. (which is a LITTLE bit pricey for me, and you may be right about the lx-v6 as well) but the tsx's are running for 16-18 which is way outta my range. as far as modifying just for the sake of it, youre a little right, i mean the thought of doing the head swap is a little interesting to me, and a little bit more interesting that just doing bolt ons, idk. call me weird.

Not to mention that if you were pushing enough psi to actually make gains over the V6, your engine would probably not even last 100,000 miles.

hah, well it seems clear that everyone's vote is v6, i think im going to save my money and wait for an opportunity, so as of right now my goal is to get the v6, even if i have to save a little bit longer, ill aim for that, the only thing that would affect me getting the v6 is my money situation, if anything happens to my current car (98 saturn, hah) im going to have to get the i4. but i just want to say thanks to everyone who responded, you guys are awesome
