Custom Cage Specs
I was wondering if anyone knows what cage specifications I should follow in order for it to be accepted by SCCA? I'm using cromolly (hopefully that's how you spell it) for the custom cage, which plays a factor in the thickness measurements. I tried to do a search, but I couldn't find what I was looking for.

So, you're having a custom cage built by someone that doesn't know what he's doing, eh?
Its your life...

What class are you running? And what car?
For IT, SS, and T cars:
Under 1500lbs: 1.375x.095 DOM/seamless/alloy
1501-2200lbs: 1.5x.095 DOM/seamless/alloy or 1.5x.120 ERW
2201-3000lbs: 1.5x.120 DOM/seamless/alloy or 1.750x.120 ERW
For the rest of the specs (plate sizes, tube bends, etc) you'll need the GCR (too much to type out).

I was thinking of either running in Show room stock or honda challenge. The car is a 00 civic si, which should fall into the "1501-2200lbs: 1.5x.095 DOM/seamless/alloy or 1.5x.120 ERW" area.
Well the guy who's building the cage is Mitch Piper,
Good.. He will do a top notch job..
Now I need to fly him out here to do mine..
Are you sure you want to go with cr-mo? It is my understanding that cr-mo tubing will need to be heat treated after welding. Might be pretty tough in a car to do. Most people go with DOM.
added in edit: Check with other competitors. I don't think you will get the car under 2200 lbs.

Mitch put together my cage. Ask him about going chrome moly. He'll probably tell you to forget it, unless you're really hell bent on dropping an extra 20 lbs.
Oh, he won't like it, but tell him to paint the bars before they go in, but don't tell him that I told you to ask that

Warren: I think we met a while back at summit because I've seen you car before (maybe a year ago). Do you own a yellow S4? Anyways your cage looks awesome, is it the Motorola cup setup?
