Default JDM Honda H22A Type S Engine

Hi, I'm looking for the Japanese specs 220hp H22A Type S engine but so far I can't find any. Most places told me that they only have the SiR engine. Isn't the SiR engine producing 200hp just like the 99-above 5th generation USDM Prelude? What is the difference between the SiR and the USDM H22A engine? My friends told me that the Japanese specs camshafts also can give you about 15hp gain? Is that true and from which H22A engine is the camshafts from?

Any advice or suggestion are really appreciated. Thanks a lot guys and sorry for asking so many questions.

Thanks for your reply. Another thing is that how can I tell if that engine is the 220hp Type S engine or it's just the SiR engine just in case the guy wants to trick me or something. Some people told me that the Type S engine have a red valve cover but you know that is easy to replace.

from the outside, i dont think you can tell besides the valve cover being different. i think if you are afraid to get scammed then get a euro r motor, same as a type s except its intake manifold doesnt have secondaries which is better anyways since most people tend to "upgrade" to an intake manifold without secondaries. on that one you can tell if its real or not because the euro r intake manifold needs custom work to fit onto a regular h22 and if they just bolt one on it probably wouldnt look right.

The cams you are talking about is the h22a type s cams. the have a higher lift than stock h22 cams so you will see a power increase. about the 15 hp however, i've seen a dyno sheet for the cams and they put out ~8whp with minor tuning from cam gears.

How much does the Accord Euro R H22A engine cost? They also put out about 220hp at the crank right? The Accord Euro R H22A have the same engine as the European specs Accord Type R engine right? Do you have a picture of both engine? Thanks.

yes the accord euro r puts out 220 hp just like the type s and cost is the same as a type s..around 4'gs..call up glen from ep racing 919-759-0210, if i remember correctly, when i bought my motor from him he had one in stock and more on the way. he's pretty easy to work with as far as pricing and shipping goes. the euro r differnt from the european type r engine because that only puts out 210 hp. i dont have a picture but it has a red valve cover also just like the type s. my cousin has a euro r he's bout to install in his hb..i'll try to get him to send me some pictures and post them...if you search on google you will probably be able find some.

The reason they don't sell the Type-S is because the tranny comes with ATTS. THe Sir-S Spec is the Type-S engine with LSD, which is what you actually want. The Type-S has a different ECU code, and it's 220 PS not HP, so it;s more like 217hp

Type S has a compression ratio of 10.6:1 while the US version is 10.0:1... Also i believe the cams are different... not sure if this helps or not..
