Summit-JC weekend 1-day this fall anyone?
I might have the opportunity to get a 1-day Saturday or Sunday date at Summit Point's 1.1 mile Jefferson Circuit sometime in Sept-Oct-Nov. Anyone interested in a cheap & fun drivers school/opentrack/timetrial/whatever held by Get Fast Enterprises (aka Speedtrial-East v2.0)? Thoughts/suggestions on best format?
Thanks!
Jon
Thanks!

I would certainly be interested in that, Jon.
JC is a really fun little track, and it's short length allows a novice to more frequently work on trouble spots.
My vote (if it is to be) is to stick with the strictly HPDE format. I think the time trial idea (while it sounds really fun) would eat into a LOT of time that a lot of folks wouldn't be able to participate in (instead of getting a little more "learning" time), thus reducing the value for those not able to take part in the time trial. Just my quick few random thoughts for now.

I agree Mike, the time trial does eat a bunch of time. But, many folks do like to see what kind of lap times they can do out there.
My personal vote would be for standard HPDE format. 4 groups (beginner / intermed / advanced / instructor) with 4x20+min sessions per group. Instructors for beg/int, who can pass only on straights, etc. Now if I could just figure out how to make the entry fee $99 or less, I'd be all set.
Jon
PS- what about running it one direction before lunch and the other direction after?

A Saturday that doesn't conflict with the MARRS event would be great.
I second the no-time-trial idea. I hate seeing cars without cages compete for times. Mike is right - it probably would take too much time out of a single day event.
And I'd be happy to instruct or work - just put me in the closest thing to a Yugo that registers.

The JC is a lot trickier than most people realize.
I agree, it takes mad skillz to get totally fast on the JC, which I'm still not... but I was just looking for a way to keep the event ultra-interesting and ultra-fun without compromising safety.

PS- thanks Al and Joel... two instructors within an hour of possible event announcement, that's gotta be some kind of record!

It was my first time.
Jefferson was my "first time" too. It's a tough little sucker to get right. I think I'm going to agree with Joel in that it takes a full day for some to get it down and that it would be just as fun for those that do [get it down] to continue going CCW. Or were you thinking of starting out going CW?

I would sign up in a heartbeat (if it doesn't conflict with overseas trip nov 30 to dec 14).
Oh Jon seems you've got the DE format down to a science that would be perfect.

Jon-I would definitely be interested and probably get a couple VW more VW/Audi guys to show up who are pretty desperate to get back out onto the track. Most of them ran the Dec. 15th Speedtrial date you organized last yr. and just had an awesome time.

The JC is a short track, but is also lots of fun IMO. I'd definitely be in Jon, just as long as it didn't fall on an ECHC event weekend
Do opposite directions on consecutive days but not the same day. I'll volunteer also, seeing as how familiar I am with the JC.
