Default OT: Ran 14.02 at the drag strip....

I just wanted to share my quarter mile time I ran a 14.02 on the 1/4 mile...I didn't get a time slip cause the printer was messed up at that time All the people at Rockingham that day can vouch for me Anyways, I'm surprised my car did that well...I only have a drop-in CompTech air filter and JDM 4-1 header mated to Carsound cat mated to stock cat-back exhaust...I took out my interiors and passenger seat...Got two Kosei K1's wrapped with Nitto 555R up front set at 18 psi...Also no muffler....Everything else was stock...Very happy with how my R performed...I might have one of those good engines

While at the drag strip, I performed an intake test....I took off the lid on my air box...ran 14.5-14.6 times....Then I took off the lid AND the air filter....I ran with NO air filter and got 14.4-14.6 times...I was expecting better times with NO air filter cause logically..more air..more power....I got mad so I put back the air filter and put the lid back on...Ran 14.0-14.2 quarter mile times...What does that say to me?? It says STOCK TYPE R AIR INTAKE SYSTEM IS I will save the money on not getting AEM/Injen cold air intake and invest that in getting some slicks....Then I will be knocking on high 13's Thanks for reading

thanks fellas...I will hit 13's next time out...plan on doing a few more minor mods and definitely getting slicks...Those 555R suck ballz...I couldn't get much grip at launch...had to feather the clutch.....Not planning on going internals cause i believe stock is good already...I met a fellow R owner who told me about his horror story with Spec B's running on stock timing belt...SNAP!!!! Be careful fellas about going inside...car is VERY GOOD already from the factory...On a side note, I won a crappy trophy..more like a wall plaque for winning my bracket...which was 14.0...I raced against my SALESMAN who drove a modified six-speed Type S... Here I come...13 second ALL MOTOR kinda STOCK Type R

I launched somewhere between 4.5-5K RPM to get that 14.0...If go 5K-5.5K, crappy 555R's won't grip that well...Remember, every car is different..just experiment....error and trial...

This doesn't sound stock to me at all.
But for the good time

Damn that's a good time! What were the weather conditions?? I went to the track the other day, but my times sucked. I ran a 14.9 . I stipped the car, took off the power steering belt, and advanced the timing to 18. I also have an intake. However, I am running on crappy Potenza 910's and it was 94 degrees w/ 87% humidity.

What are some typical gains from just unbolting the muffler? Does it really help that much?

.3 (three tenths) wheel HP.. not worth anything.. but noise...

Now the stock B pipe should gain about 3 WHP upon removal.

Not sure, maybe 1000 ft? I was pissed. I think it's also the tires in part... I dunno, there was an RSX type S wth an exhaust and an intake that was pulling 15.1 -15.3 all night.

GOOD TIMES. my R went 14.0 w/ only apex N1 cat back, nitto 555r, cut air box w/ stock filter, its all in how u treat your car. typeRs are very capable of good times w/ minimal mods.........NICE JOB and good luck w/ 13s........sounds like u know your car.

Good Driving KamikazeTypeR. What were your 60 foot times? Oh, and once again, tell your cousin congrats. Maybe next time I can give him a better challenge.
As for temps, it was 90-93 degrees and 80+% humidity, showers in the area, but none at the track.
As for me, I ran the following times:
13.291, 13.69, 13.59, 13.58, 13.55, 13.50 and 13.471
Never got close to that first run. Rockingham says there was no problem with the timing devices on that run, so we will see.

Those tires helped you out alot! If you ran with the stock Michelins, you wouldn't have gotten those awesome times...
