short ram intakes
short ram stays in the engine bay, gets colder air than stock and has a nice tone to it...CAI go into the fender well behind the bumper OUTSIDE the engine bay...which pulls in colder air. NOW this means that supposedly the CAI will give you more HP...I haven't used one but I have a generic short ram and it works pretty well...gives me a little higher end power...
Oh and if you are talking about normal as in STOCK basically the difference is the compostition of materials used for the intake part of the piece...short ram and CAI's are smooth which keeps air moving quickly...stock ones have some ribbed sections which some people believe slows air down.
