Default Burning oil?

So I have noticed my H22A burning some oil. Is this common with this motor?
Thanks for any input

yeah, I have a 94 h22, and mine burns oil all the time. I used a engine flush on it a work about couple months ago and it seems to be doing a little bit better, but it still burns.

Honda says that h22's will use oil, even when they are not burning oil mainly because of vtec. Right when I swapped my engine in with perfect compression and all new belts and stuff it used oil. All h22's do.

Ok I feel a tiny bit better. I just changed it 3 weeks ago and I was down about a quart and a half. Also noticed I need to get a new oil pan gasket so im sure that also isnt helping. May go ahead with an engine flush also. What brand are you guys using? I went with mobil 1 10w30.

I use 5w-30 personally. Have you been going on vtec runs? the more vtec, the more oil. In your case however, the oil pan gasket really isn't helping as you know

The weight of oil you use depends on the amount of mileage is on the motor. Older motors need a heavier oil because they are more likey to have gaps between the pistons and cylinder walls. Id say if your motor has over 100,000 miles to use 10w-30

There isnt really anything to worry about. Just keep an eye on the oil level and you should be fine.

Castrol GTX, 5w-30 or 10w-30.

If you live in Florida i would prolly run 10w-30. Ambient temps most likely are not going to go low enough that 10 weight will not flow well even during the winter.
