Default auto trans

o am very unfamiliar with auto trans and there was one on this motor i bought and i have been trying like hell for like an hour to get it off the engine.so what am i missing? is there an additional step that is required other than removing the bots that hold the tranny to the engine.i removed all the bolts that hold it to the engine and i got it off like and inch or so but something seems to be holding it on there still. do i have to unbold the torque converter or something like that? thanks alot guys.

you need to unbolt the torque converter from the drive plate (like flywheel on manual car) - access is by removing drive plate cover on bottom of transmission between transmission and oil pan
