They are not very heavy and there is really no point to take them out, because the only real difference you will notice is noise. If you want take them out then keep them and see if you like it.

the less interior pieces you have in your car, the more road noise you can fear. the foam in your seats help soak up road noise. this is based off of experience as well.

also, i think you would save 40 pounds at the most. only the top part of the seats are "heavy" because of that swing **** it has. the bottom pieces will probably weigh about 3 pounds at the most.

i'd suggest you just leave them in your car. you wont be able to hide **** in your trunk well without them.

you can do what the focus kids do when they take out their back seats, you can take a piece of plywood and cut it in the shape of your bottom seat and carpet it. my buddy did this and it looks clean. if you want i can try and get some pics for you.

pointless because the foam bottoms don't weigh much. taking the bottom pieces out will save him 6-8 pounds?

yup. driving in an interiorless car=LOUDEST CAR in the god damn world. you hear every tiny little bump in the road. you hear yourself driving over rocks. every time your suspension moves, you hear it. road noise is also amplified. great for a track car, but absolutely stupid in a street car.
