Probably a stupid question... and pads really aren't that expensive. But I'm curious, what if for example, you have two OEM Acura pads but one is more worn than the other? I'm talking about front brakes.

They sell as a set for a reason...

In all honesty, nothing will really happen- as the piston and sliders take up the extra room created by the thinner pad...but an extreme difference in pad materiel under hard driving will definitely cause an issue.

Fix the caliper that is causing the uneven wear, then replace both.

That's what I'm wondering. I'm sure it'll brake normally under normal conditions but I wonder if it'll feel any different under hard conditions, but I would think it should act fine. I'm going to try it out because both pads have a ton of life left and are similar in wear, and if anything, it won't take long to replace them in the future.

It isn't the calipers causing uneven wear, it's just because I hit a curb which shattered my rotor and basically dug some chunks out of the pads on that side, and the replacement suspension that I'm putting in the car already has pads with it.

thats fine just make sure to scuff up the older pads with some fine grit sand paper, in the direction the rotor spins. deglaze the pads.

make sure to lube up the caliper slides as well.

Haha I don't really have any good pictures but the wheel is missing a few chunks out of it and the rotor broke into about 5 pieces.
