Default stainless steel vs oem brake lines

i heard that stainless steel brake lines dont last as long(around 3years) as oem ones
because dirt gets into the braids.

is this true?
if so cant i just wrap them in something like tape?

thnx

As far as I know the Goodridge Stainless Braided PTFE Hoses have a lifetime/150,000 mile warranty.

A lot of the OEM rubber lines will start to dry out and crack within 4-5 years. I realize some people have them on there car for 10-12 years but that doesn't mean they are safe. As soon as they start to dry out & crack they are "supposed" to be replaced. They are easily one of the most overlooked parts of the brake system.

The advantages that Stainless braided brake hoses offer far outweigh any percieved problem. They call it "Stainless" for a reason; corrosion resistance.
An additional point; If you go three (3) years without inspecting your brakes, you've no one to blame but yourself

I love how poor basic maintenance is blamed on part failure. If you take care of your car right it will take care of you.

Besides, breaking own parts learning things, I have never had any real issues with cars breaking on me.

I never looked into it when I had my Accord but on one of my current cars when replacing some of the hard lines last summer I decided to replace the rubber lines too. I looked into premade kits but decided to make my own with Earl's coated stainless steel hoses and Earl's hose ends. Only cost about $80 I think and I know they are good quality and compared to the premade kits available for that car I saved about $70. They aren't hard to make either, it was my first time working with these hoses, but not my first time with braided hoses and it took maybe 20 minutes at most to make each hose start to finish.

I purchased everything from anplumbing.com
they have good prices, are very helpful over the phone and helpful videos to show you what to do. I've order from them 3 times now and always had great service.

Four years on the SE, and just as clean and bright as the day they went on.
I highly recommend the upgrade
