Default Over heating problem with B18C1

I just did a swap. 94 Gsr into my 92 Si. It keeps over heating, I checked everything, everything seems fine. My friend said I need to bleed the air out of the engine, but I think when the engine's running, the air will be forced to the radiator. Is there anyway to pin point the problem? I'm thinking about bad water pump, how do I make sure that's the problem? I'm running GSR radiator. The top hose is hot, but the bottom hose going to the thermostat is cool. Could it be the radiator? It's brand new radiator. Thank you for your help.

Make sure and bleed the engine like your friend said per the specs in your helms manual or equivalent. While you are at it make sure that your thermostat is opening properly and check it per the manual also. I doubt you have a water pump problem. I would bet on a thermostat more than likely...

Yeah probably your thermostat. Also to check the water pump you need to take the cover off that is covering the water pump, and there should be weep holes, and if you see coolant coming out of them, its shot.

if it's a 94 motor and the water pump, thermostat, have never been changed, its time.

I'd check the thermostat, I'm still runnin the stock '93 Si radiator w/ my swap and I haven't had any probs w/ it. your friend was talkin' about the bleeder valve near the upper hose on the cylinder head (in front for the b18c1)

I changed the thermostat, it still has that overheating problem. I'll bleed the engine today, if it still has a problem, then I guess it's the water pump. Thanks a lot you guys.

Well if it turns out that it is the water pump (hopefully it won't be) I would also look @ replaceing the timing belt while in there. If the engine has over 75K miles (Honda says 90K but I like 75K just to be safe) it is time to change that as well assuming it hasn't been changed. If you do that buy a Honda belt and not some cheapie. Pay the extra $ for a good Honda belt. That is cheap insurance and may save you some extra $$$ down the road. Heck I would do this even if the water pump isn't bad and the motor has over the above listed miles.. Good luck and keep us posted.....
