Dash Rattle only in Cold
So its cold out again, my 2004 RSX-S started doing this last year. When it is cold, below 35 F or so, I get a horrible rattle coming from my dash, right where the plastic dash meets the windshield base. It sounds sort of like a ball bearing in a small wooden cup. If I press down really hard near the windshield it stops. When the car warms up fully, aided by hot defroster air, it basically stops. Also, in warmer months it is almost non-existent. Anyone ever had this? I imagine I will have to get under there somehow which will probably be a nightmare.
Mine doesn't rattle. But I've seen plenty of threads on CRSX about people complaining about dash rattling. Most say the DIY to fixing it is the Radio ****. lol
I guess they say most of the time it's the dash touching the window. So they suggest sticking foam between the two.

LOL i have the same problem dude...thats what i use my radio **** for too...i never thought about the foam idea...i will have to try that out!!!
I think it's coming from the temperature sensor in the middle of the dash up near the windshield. Try putting your finger on it while driving in the cold. how to cure? duck tape?

I did press the temp sensor the noise went away, so it is something under there rattling away driving me nuts. I might try some rubber or foam between the windshield and dash.
Has anyone taken their dash off or know how to access that area, ideally i would like to solce it the right way instead of doing band aid fixes

Here's another rattle that drives me nuts. My driver side door lock (the thing that goes up and down). It rattles like hell in it's little hole in the door. Right next to my left ear and drives me bonkers.
I eliminated my dash rattles by pushing in a strip of 3/8 inch foam 'backer rod' between the dash and the windshield. Once in place, you can't even see it. It's grey in color and is available at most big box building supply or hardware stores.
after a trip to home depot and a $1.38 piece of copper pipe foam insulation I was able to quell this elusive rattle. I cut a few test strips about 4 inches long X .5 in wide, and placed them between the dash and base of the windshield. So far so good, its a miracle! I might make one long strip covering the entire width of the windshield to make it look better and press a little harder on the dash. sweet....
