Default So I threw a code P0135 bank and sensor 1

I took the heat shield off, and for some reason I can't get the sensor out. (well its most likely rusted in place lol) I have a 97 accord se 4 banger auto. with 186,000 miles on it and this is the original sensor. I think it has gone bad, but I'm not sure if the manifold is cracked either as there are no obvious cracks. When it was cold I put some soapy water on what I thought might be a small crack a few inches above the sensor to see if any water blew out when I started it up but I did not see anything.

So, what next? I think it is the sensor, it's rather old and served me well but I don't like to just replace parts without knowing. I did reset the cel with the fuse technique and it came back on about 4 seconds after I turned the car back on. That leads me to think it is the sensor and not an exhaust leak as I don't think that would throw a code as fast as a bad sensor. Am I correct in this thinking?

Any advice is greatly appreciated!

Replace the sensor its a heater failure. Its common. I would rec a honda sensor the work better and last longer.

I agree on the Primary O2 heater failure observation.
I've used both Genuine Honda OEM bits along with the Denso equivilents quite successfully.
I would also suggest avoiding Bosch and other universal application types which are not a direct PnP. They have a track record of premature failure and I try to avoid that at all costs.

good to hear you say that I was going to get a pnp bosch from autozone. Where else would I look? My honda dealer wants over $200 for the honda brand and that's too steep.

Try these guys:

http://densoproducts.com/resultsApp.asp?AAIA=1167544&productCategoryID=2

At 70.00$ USD (super class) it's not the cheapest, but Denso is an OEM supplier for Honda.....

Or do a google search for the denso number: 234-4620
and see whatever other sourses you can scare up.

That looks like a good a deal as any. I will need to get a socket to remove mine unless a pair of pliers will work but I hesitate to do that. Do you know what size that sensor is? I called sparkplugs.com and they didn't know but their socket will work on any 7/8 sensor. Thanks alot for your help with this P, it is greatly appreciated!
