Default H22 Swap (Accessory Related)

I am currently waiting for my h22 motor to arrive from the freight and I was looking at pictures of the motor and discovered that it might be a JDM instead of USDM h22 by looking at the throttle cable that is mounted on the valve cover heading to the passenger side. (Which there is nothing wrong with that)

Anyways, I am trying to compile a list of things that must be ordered/done before it is dropped in the car. The motor has no accessores at all bolted on, so far I can see that I will be needing to swap my H23 power-steering and alternator. I think I can see the PS bracket already installed but it is missing an alternator bracket, will the H23 alternator bracket line up properly on the H22?

Looks JDM to me. No ignition coil is what I looked for. Don't see it. Also, the fuel rail is pointing to the driver's side.

Also, it's from an automatic car based on the flywheel.

Your alternator bracket will work fine. However, the alternator has a different pulley. Has one extra rib on it. If you use your H23 alternator and AC compressor (If you still have AC), you should be fine. Just don't be surprised if the belt isn't side enough.

If it doesn't have a PS bracket, you will need to get one for from an H22A or an H22A1. The one from the H22A4 is different. I'm not seeing one installed on the engine in the pics.

Sweet, so I am assuming it has an internal coil. From what I researched the h23 external coil will bolt up to the h22, correct?

Guess that means I will have to be on the lookout for a h22 PS bracket.

It looks to me like the PS bracket is there.

Definitely JDM though.

I was thinking that the PS bracket might be still there because I can still see the engine hoist clip attached, just wanted to make sure. This motor arrives here tomorrow so I will be able to check for sure.

Also Andy, by the fuel rail pointed the drivers side means someone already swapped the fuel rail for to to be dropped in a usdm prelude?

Yeah, the hoist point is part of the PS bracket.

As anyone who has moved around one of those crappy H22s that came out of electric power steering cars would know.

Yes, use your H23 distributor.

Use your H23 fuel rail.

Looks like the PS bracket is there, but it doesn't look right. There should be a longer arm coming from the front of it. Who knows. You will know for sure once you get it.

Before you swap it in, change the timing belt and balancer belt, water pump, swap your H23 timing belt manual tensioner over to it, and maybe take off the oil pan to inspect it for damage and to make sure it is sealed properly. I changed my oil pump, too, but that's not something you HAVE to do. I would change the valvecover gasket and spark plug O-seals.

Do you know if the header downpipe is coming with it, too? If not, you will need to get a 4th gen H22 header.

What about the H22 P13 ECU?

Going to use your H23 tranny?

I used the ps bracket from my h23 but I had to do some small mods to it, but it does look like it is there. I had a issue when I did my swap that I had to leave my external coil on it but I still used the h22 distibutor. if your still going to use your h23 tranny i would go ahead and change your vss out that was another issue i had after my swap i couldnt get vtec to work because of it.
