Icon2 Several questions

OK

First off. This is by no means me sayin im ready to take this on yet. This is more of a general info thread coming from the experiences of you guys, the members. I just want to get an idea is all..

Nowthen:

Build or buy?

Basically I want to go the cheapest way possible an get one. I am more of an electronics guy, but I was a ligh wheel vehicle mechanic in the military.
So could it potentailly be cheaper to build or fix up a salvage title? Or should I look for something built an running an bide my time till something cheap happens to cross my path?

B18c5 NA or B18c5 turbo or K series?

If I ended up doing a build it, What motor would be best and why?
I will prob not track it, but I would want to be able to if I wanted.
I am more of a 1320 kinda guy really. How much of a price difference is there?

How do you find a shell?

I have been lookin around for shells for quite some time now to no avail.
If that is the best route, how the golly heck do you get an official ITR shell?

whats your budget?
budget for car?
budget for aftermarket parts?
whats your accesibility to tools?

by you saying you want to get the cheapest ITR possible, it sounds to me that you want a slight modified ITR with mainly OEM parts and reliable...

if thats what you want.
i would not go with a shell, i would go with the high milage, non mint ITR's. you can find them for 9-11K easily. and change parts as you go.

I guess my goal, what I would like to see happen, is to get an R so that I can stop obsessing this forum What i want initially is something with little mods. That way, I can do that part myself, the way I want it. Cosmetics are less important to me then how she will sound/drive/handle.
Of course I want heR to be beautiful! But no more then the standard look. No big wings, kits or JDM fronts for me. (Not that I am knocking them)

I am leaning towards something already drivable. My problem is inheriting someone elses problems with a high mileage beat on R.. I know that Honda/AcuRa Can handle a phuckton of miles if maintained but I tend to travel 400 miles at a time sometimes and I cant have a car that I dont trust to make the trip back an forth. So this may be the route I should take.

easier to fix a couple of someone else's problems than start from scratch most of the time.. if you're going the cheap route, buying a high mileage beat on car is the way to go..

rebuilding is not for those on a small budget, not without half assing or taking a really long time to find deals on every single part..

with that said, shells are everywhere.. on here in the FS section and on ebay.. just gotta keep your eye out.. there'll be none, then like 5 will show up for sale..
