Exhaust Rattling Against Heat Shields What To Do?
My exhaust is rattling by vibrating up against the heat shield around the resinator. how can I stop this? The heat shields are not loose anywhere, and I cant bend them any further back, so is there a way to just "tighten" up the exhaust itself?
Thanks!
Thanks!
Its funny how I figured out that was the problem. I thought it was rattling from inside the resinator itself, so I tried something crazy. I wedged a couple of potholders into a couple of spots where the exhaust was closest to the heat shields, and Wal-la no more rattle.
So am I to assume that removing them will not cause any heat problems?

ok, i dont know how the heck you do it...
basically i loosened the 2 rubber hangers for the exhaust bpipe area and then tried to remove the heatshield... (for another project). impossible to remove!
anyhow the project is done, but im just curious to what the heck did i do wrong

took me a solid couple of minutes to drop the exhaust, then a few more to remove the heat shields then 30 seconds to move the exhaust from under the car..end result: ITR-NC/FL giving you the finger when you pass them at 8000rpm.. priceless
(although at that time I did have a straight pipe on the car.. lol)
Well, I guess I'll try to get them off as much as possible. Cutting or whatever. Seems like thats the easiest way to go.
Bend, cut, or remove which ever way is the best to you. I just removed all of them.
mine still rattles.. grr
Will removing them have any adverse affects on the interior of car? I tried the bending last week on my friends 01, but it didn't help much. The reason I didn't remove them is because I figured Honda wouldn't put them there if they didn't do anything.
