Default extra kick?

i got my car used from the dealship and it came with a bunch of mods and i dont know what they are but when i accelerate hard i get an extra "kick" at like 5200rpms. and i think the person who owned my car befor me was an idiot so is it possible he got hondata and tuned it wrong? because also the car isnt as fast as it should be. how can i tell if my car has hondata? or is there another reason why it could be giving me an extra little kick.

cliffs: previouse owner an idoit. how to check if i have hondata.

you would have to go take out your ECU which is under the dash on the passenger side... btw what time of car/engine is this?

That is boost kicking in from your turbo!

Haha. Sorry man.

If Hondata did anything there is a good chance there might be Hondata sticker on the ECU too which will make it easy to tell. 5200 RPMs is right about where max torque comes in but since the torque curve is pretty linear you shouldn't really feel any kick.

if its "slower than it should be" then i doubt he sent is ecu to hondata, because there is a noticeable difference with reflash. unless its tuned horribly.

lol...that is probaly the torque curve...

I know it is bad but why don't you rev it to red line to find out where your rev limit is at? Although if you do have k-pro, it can set the rev limit at 6800rpm but not for reflash...

Well ok not being a dick or anything... but the k20a3 isn't that fast... so how fast are you thinking it should be? It just has economy I-vtec. But yeah maybe the guy did install k-pro. If that said is true, then he probably moved the vtec engagement point from the weak stock spot which is like 2500rpms or something to the 5200 marker and you are actually feeling vtec kick in. Or....

Something is horrible wrong with your car and you either knocking real hard at that spot from no tune or a bad tune... or something else is setting it off. But you are specifically saying 5200 so I was assume k-pro and vtec.

Pull the ecu and let us know! If there are no HONDATA stickers on it like mine, just look for a spot where a USB cable would hook up.

I still don't understand why the original owner is in idiot, but yet you can't seem to find where the ECU is or even know what mods are on the car??

You bought this car with this crap done to it and it driving weird?

I bought mine pre modded but it had a Magnaflow Exhaust and an AEM CAI. Tasteful, expensive mods.. So I wasn't too worried.

that's what you get for buying a moded car...

The worst I had was the previous owner cut the rear springs but not the front so the rear was a little lower...but that didn't bother me as I had the whole suspenion changed to Tein Basic Coilovers...

stickers dont matter on the ecu, like someone else said check the ecu to see if it has a usb port on it. if you ony feel this extra kick in first it sounds like your just in peak torque.
