Bottom End Rebuild. I Need opinions/Advice.
ello everyone. I've got a D16A6 with Eagle Rods and SRP Pistons. The main bearings went out and damaged the crank. The rod bearings were fine, but I still plan to replace. Since Im going to have most of the bottom end out, I figured I would replace the following:
Main Bearings
Rod Bearings
Front and Rear Main Seal
Oil Pan Gasket
Oil Pump.
The problem, is that I dont know which code of rod bearings I should get. And, I wont know what type of mainbearings to get untill I pull out the engine because there is supposed to be a code on the block on the flywheel side. I have purchased a good crank from a used D16A6. I have. Im just now trying to decide what parts I should get and where i should get them. If anyone has any advice, please send it my way. Thanks,
-Steve Berman

sounds like you are replacing everything you need except for a water pump and timing belt. i would do those 2 in addition to everything else you listed.
as for the main bearings, the crank has numbers on it that you use with the letters stamped on the flywheel side of the block to get the bearing color code.
the rod bearings are similiar. the rods are stamped with a number that you use with the letters stamped on the crank to get the bearing color code.

Aright great. When I get the engine out I'll post the stamped codes and see what I should get because It really makes no since to me. I guess now I have to find out what size rod bearings because Im using eagle rods. Thanks Bud!
