I need to paint the corner of my hood, about 1" of it started to rust( I got into a fender bender , chipped the paint of the hood, broke the headlight bumper and fender) .

Can someone explain to me how I could properly paint and blend the corner of the hood please?

I dont know if this is right, but what someone told me:

1. Sand about 1.5-2 inches around the rust(including the rusty part,obviously)
2. stick a peice of fiberglass, sand again
3. put tape around the edge of sanded part, paint
4. take off tape, ...*blur*

i got the instructions mixed up, so could someone please correct me?
