Ok well in that case, I burn no oil, Mobil 1 10w-30 full synthetic

Why does the test pipe matter? hehe

In alot of the cases i have seen someone put a test pipe on or gutted there cat oil consumption has always gone up...sometimes drastically. Mine is up a little more then i would like.. I changed my pcv valve and everything. i dunno.. i think my valveguides are fucked.

Maybe they just drive the car harder after? The two are not correlated...

And why do you think it's caused by the test pipe and not something else?
I'm trying to understand your thinking...

I have never heard of a test pipe causing oil to burn at any kind of a different rate than previous......

my consumption went from ~0.5 qts per weekend to ~0.75 qts. per weekend.

Mobil 1 10W-30

The use of a test pipe does promote extra oil consumption... plus the smell is awful.

you are COMPLETELY wrong

they go hand in hand.............test pipe + track = more oil lost

recentely u use 4 quarts of 5w-50 Castrol Full syn oil after 25 laps in streets

of willow i lost one full quart of it, and i ran with a test pipe.

Back in July, i use 5 quarts of 5w-30 Mobile1 Full syn in Califonia Speed way

only 18 laps, only 3.5 quarts left, and this was with stock CAT, but it was a really

hot day tho in the second case i assume that i over fill with engine oil, so

i , there are many consequences that may cause oil burnning

however , i think lots of VTEC kicks, lots of oil will burn, next time

i will try to measure my oil @2500miles with out going through a track event.

just keep in mind, and keep at least 3 quarts of oil in ur engine~!!!

i didnt know the test pipe mattered for burning oil . . .now if your kicking it in vtec alot then yes you will burn a bit of oil , that sounds like a bit much though.

Well, since you all bring it up, you have the burden of proof to show that a test pipe increases oil consumption.

Your rings do not know whether there is a cat installed downstream or not... and the above listed figures showing .25 quart difference in oil level aren't exactly scientific.

switch to castrol gtx and see what happens. I honestly don't follow the testpipe causing oil to be burned logic, maybe it's because I haven't had any all day, but right now, I just don't see it.
