I just bought a civic a little over 2 weeks ago and everything was fine. i parked it in my yard for the time being while i got some cosmetic work done on it. this morning i went to start it and it would not crank over or nothing. All i get is this noise coming from where the distributor comes out of. Does anybody know what that could be. I'm guessing its the alternator because the lights turn on and everything the motor just wont crank over.

 

Maybe the battery died? If it doesn't crank it could be a grounding problem too. Check for sparks?

 

if it sat for a while i would try jumping it, the battery is probably gone.

 

check battery, fuel , spark, main relay,
