Icon2 Oem VS aftermarket parts. BOTTOM LINE.....

The big question i have always had in the back of my mind is, are oem dealer parts better, vs aftermarket parts? Alot of people say it's the same, but why the price difference? are we paying to much for the name or quality? and when i say aftermarket i mean from all aspects of the car, body panels, bushings, filters, fluids etc. what do you think?

well as far as the body goes they dont take the time honda does to make the parts exactly the same. so its alot harder for you to line things up, i bought a pair of fenders for my eg and they you could definitely tell the difference in the two as far as motor. i look at it this way, one will last 2 years the other 3... but of course if you have all oem then you can take it back to honda. i still to oem, i've heard things going wrong my buddy bought after market fog lights and there was something wrong with the wire harness. to each its own i suppose.

When I rebuilt my Accord I used a lot of OEM parts from a different variance of Honda's and I used a lot of aftermarket parts for more of the performance aspect of the car. I can tell you this much, the OEM parts are generally superior in construction and longevity. However, performance parts are only performance parts because they sacrifice some of the reliability and longevity of OEM parts in order to increase the performance of your vehicle.

I go by a simple rule for not only myself but those I do work for as well:

Genuine Honda parts for critical mission pieces
Honda OEM suppliers for non critical pieces
Aftermarket for Body interior, appearance and others
No Ebay unless I absolutely, positively can't find it anywhere else.

I refuse to do the job twice. Doing it right the first time saves all kinds of time, expense and customer satisfaction.
