Default Transmission Questions about a b16a

Ill start off by saying that i have a B16A jdm block and i need a transmission, my question is, does vtec matter when it comes to a transmission. If so, How?

and any suggestions on which type of transmission to get, i either want a gsr or an ls. I want decent gas mileage and i dont wanna be at 4k rpm when im going 60. If that is at all possible.

Thanks

A B16 with an LS tranny is going to be gutless as hell. And doing 60 at 4 grand isn't going to give you mileage anywhere near as bad as you would think. Don't go any longer than a GS-R. As for vtec mattering when it comes to the tranny, sorta, if you use an LS tranny on a B16 you will likely be dropping out of vtec between shifts, even when shifting at or near the redline.

I agree with 94EG8, as usual.

Also I would like to point out that it won't be at 4k @ 60 mph with the stock B16 trans or even a Type R trans for that matter.

IIRC my OBD2 B16A with Y21 trans at 4k was about 75 mph. It also got GREAT mpg even at that kind of rpm.

Ive found more gsr transmission for sale than a b16, i have found a few ls but those are like 200-300 more in price. i found a few gs-r transmissions for like 400 that apparently work real well so hopefully that works out for me. I plan on putting a turbo in and i already have gsr cams, from what i have heard i will smoke an evo like no other.... itll make me smile either way but we'll see
