so my girlfriend has 01 accord her defrost doesnt work it just blowing out cold air. i dont know what the problem is? does anyone know what it could be?

 

Defrost mode is built to default air conditioned air. Cold air defrosts better than hot air, the air conditioning system or the evaporator is designed to dry the air of its moisture, that stuff that fogs up the inside of the windshield. If you need heat to deice the outside of the window and that is not working then your hot and cold door is broken or the motor that moves it is broken.

Can you please clear up what your actual problem is.

 

her AC stop working this last summer and now when she turns on the heat all it does is blow out cold air

 

You need to monitor the two heater hoses going into the firewall while the heater and blower are turned on and the engine is warming up, yes this may take a little while so grab a couple of cold ones.

If there is a water valve on one of the heater hoses then make sure it is operational. If both hoses get hot but no hot air is entering the cabin then you may have a hot cold door issue under the dash. First lets make sure you are getting hot coolant into the cabin.

sounds like if you are NOT getting cold or hot air at the approperiate times, that there is a problem with the control unit it's self
