Power steering squeeks only when cold and turning
I have a 92 accord DX. I did a search but couldn't find a problem just like mine. When I start the car on cold mornings and I turn the steering wheel while stopped to make a U-turn in front of my house, the power steering squeeks and it feels like it turns to non-power steering or will kind of jump back and forth betweeen power and non-power and chirp. If I move forward it steers ok, and once it is warmed up a bit it seems fine. If I start the car when it is warm out it doesn't do this.
I checked the fluid and it is fine, right between Min and Max and I have never had to fill it in the past 5 years I have had the car, although the fluid looks a little dark. The belt tension seems fine.
Anything else to check? Or is it maybe the pump just on it's way out?

The reason your's has started screwing around of late is that it's gotten cold(er) out and the fluid is thicker (harder to pass thru the clogged filter).
Sometimes it can be removed for cleaning. Others have successfully removed the tank and backflushed it using Gasoline, Kerosene and some compressed air.
After you're all done with that, you might entertain changing out what brown fluid remains. It's heavily oxidized and should be addressed.
Now, isn't this better than those short, glib one liner's?

There is a little known screen filter located on the bottom of the Power Steering Reservoir which filters contaminates from entering the Power Steeering Pump. It's right where the hose that feeds the pump attaches to the reservoir.

Ah, never new about that. Thanks for the repsonse! I will check it tonight when I get home.
I've seen some so bad that even after removing the hose there would hardly be a dribble; and that was with fluid still in the reservoir.
Good Luck

Well I managed to remove it and I saw the screen you were talking about as well as another filter that looked similar to an air filter just above that, only i coul djust barely see it through one of the return ports. I couldn't take the resorvoir apart, so I poured gas in there, let it soak a bit and blew compressed air through it in reverse. It seems to be better but still doing it. It was ok this morning, but yesterday just as bad as before. I am not sure how clean I got it without being able to even see it. So I am wondering should I get a new resorvoir or look at the pump itself?

As a side note; I'd revisit the P/S Pump's drive belt for sufficient tension.
I'd also give it a few days. There could still be some air in the system.

I too have similar problem but it was after I replaced my alternator on my 99 Accord EX V6. I took the resevoir out but I don't think my resevoir has that screen filter. Any suggestions anyone?
