Default Can I do it

just need some advice, i got a budget of about $3000+$1500 in a couple of months after income tax comes in, and a 89 CRX HF shell.

can i get it to low 13 or high 12 with 250-275hp with the combination of the two. was thinking of an b18b turbo w/ a b16 tranny. wondering if i can make my goal.

i ran a 13.1 with a b16 and a 50 shot. the motor has a EF8 airbox, CTR cams, megan header and a straight pipe to a stock SI muffler. CM stage 3 clutch, YS1 trans (non-LSD) i was using slicks (23X8.5X15 M&H's) mounted on gsr rims. they kinda balooned out a little, but hooked up real good. i was cutting 1.7 60 fts and still trapping 104+mph. i probably could have run a 12 with that set-up but i needed more practice hahaha.i'm putting a fresh JDM GSR in it and probably using a 75 shot. hopefully i'll hit a low 12....

it's possible. if you can get a good deal on a few parts here and there then it could happen.

b series in ef mounts - $350 - $400
b series in ef shift linkage - $150
b series swap - $800
oem seats - $50 - $75
oem guage cluster - $30 - $50
wheels w/ probably used tires - $400
wheels w/out tires - $ 250
new tires - $350 - $400
turbo setup - depending on what you get maybe $1200

that gives you almost an extra $1200 for misc. things you will probably need to buy and that's using all of the higher prices listed. i think those prices are pretty realistic. if anyone else want to add or correct anything, please do so.

well if it's just a shell, then it doesn't matter what the last owner ran...find some cheap wheels, go to the junkyard and get a cluster, and buy a pair of "racing" seats and then all you need is the motor...i think those things could cost you about $700

b18b turbo is very doable for that price and is awesome, if you junkyard a lot of the stuff you need and hunt through craigslist and ebay, you should be fine, ebay turbo kit for 700 and engine for 4 or 500, get da shift linkages and cut them, most of the rest of the money should go to engine management and tuning, also ebay mount and axles are pretty good, good luck

just remember this you can only have 2.

Cheap
Reliable
Fast

will this be a drag only car? if so make sure you get a good set of wheels, good drag slicks, and a good set of axles

Sounds tight. What setup was the previous owner running to get 11's?

Another cost to think about is the cost of converting it over from what it was to what you want it to be. And with the wiring, ect involved it sounds like you will come up short on cash before you finish it. I would double your budget and pocket any cash you have left over (if any) after its up and running.

b18 and nitrous with proper tune would be the quickest/cheapest way to get to your goals....

as for costs, hunt around your local craigslist, or of course on here for smaller stuff...

id say get a wrecked DA with low kms on craigslist, that way you can pull the motor/suspension out of it and swap it into your car, mount kit can be had for 200 if you shop around or PM me, for shift linkage just take the DA one and cut and reweld it. axles etc, thats why i said get a teg of the list...
