Interstate or Energizer battery??
Hi guys. I have a 99 Civic Sedan and I need to replace the battery. I need to decide between two types of batteries:
1. Energizer battery at Walmart for $84.98 which comes with 72 months pro-rata warranty, first 24 months free replacement, and 36 months free roadside assistance.
2. Interstate Mega-tron battery for $84.87 which comes with 75 months pro-rata warranty, with 24 months free replacement.
Which one should I go with??

Neither. go to autozone and get a Duralast Gold Series. I never buy much from autozone, but their battery warrantys are hard to beat. They come with a 3 YEAR ( 72 month FREE REPLACEMENT!) warranty and a prorated warranty on top of that. BUT, If you had to chose between those two batteries that you listed, then I'd go with the Interstate.
If you can find someone that sells Bosch batteries up there, go for that. They have one of the better warranties on the market. 3 years free replacement, 96 month pro-rata (not pro-rated as many people say) warranty.
The roadside assistance through Energizer is only active if you fill out the paperwork and send it in within x amount of days. And prepare to wait for hours for the "assistance" (which is only a jump-start assistance program) if you actually need it!
I would go more for a place that will HONOR their warranties. Wal Mart likes to give the run-around, and somehow will always try to screw you. Maybe go for a place that has more respect for their customers than Wal Mart. Anytime I have a customer who needs a battery warranty honored through Wal Mart, it's nothing but trouble.
That being said - it's a BATTERY. Certainly this is not one of the decisions you should devote too much time to.

I discovered that Energizer batteries and Interstate batteries are made by the same manufacturer, Johnson Controls (http://www.batteries-faq.com/activek...?questionid=51). Energizer batteries are made by Johnson Controls. Look at the label on the battery (http://capebreton.kijiji.ca/c-ViewAd...57/944a_18.JPG)
Everything seems to be the same between the Interstate battery and the Energizer battery. Same CCA, same CA and they both meet manufacters minimum requirements. Actually they both exceed because I just looked at the battery I have in my car and it says the battery has 410CCA while the Interstate and the Energizer battery both have 500CCA.
I just called the Honda dealer and they jacked up the Interstate battery price to $101 and they don't have it in stock. So I think I'm gone go with Energizer battery for $85 with free installation.

I just replaced the battery today. The mechanic told me the old battery was 6 years old!!. So, I'm glad I've changed it because it was gonna leave me stuck somewhere very soon.
my dad has a energizer in his car, it was dead for over 6 months STRAIGHT ( women before we owned got T-boned and dome light stuck on) put a boost on it, held. 4 years later, never boosted it once. even left the headlights on for 4 hours straight. great battery. just stay away from fergusons. my battery was in my car 18 hours and shorted out

Without actually reading the thread to boot.
Walmart at the time was selling Energizer which turns out was a high quality battery at the time as per real world testing of a user.
