my '95 Accord EX automatic transmission revs and then shifts very hard
The title pretty much tells it all, I have a '95 Accord EX with the F22b1 engine, I don't know the model of the transmission but when it shifts from 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th the engine revs up to about 5k and then suddenly grabs and shifts really hard. there are no leaks, the fluid level is fine, and I had the transmission flushed about 5,000 miles ago. I probably do drive this car harder than I should but I do not think I am the cause or the problem.
I am open to any ideas about what it could be. I also don't want to take it to a mechanic if I can help it.

Never flush!!!... sounds like your transmission its on is way out...if you do alot of hard braking, yes you will damage the tranny...
Yea, I was reading about transmission flushing right as the car was in the shop getting it done, and I wish that I hadn't got it done, no I don't usually brake that hard either. I forgot to mention that there is 158k miles on the odom. Do you have any idea what it could be though?

lol I dunno but when I car did the same thing, that's what was replaced and the car was fine ever since........
why is getting the tranny flushed a bad idea?....my car is doing the same thing as well, even tho its a 98 acura cl (basically the same as an accord). i was told by an acura tech to try flushing....

from everything I've read flushing can/will just stir up all the **** that is in your tranny. I dont get it exactly but Im gonna have to change my fluid already after 5k miles because its pretty much black after just getting it flushed. and its pretty spendy. if my tranny is on its way out as jose said I'm kinda wanting to do a manual swap anyways I just haven't had a reason to.
drain and fill won't hurt the trans. my 1994 honda didn't get it's first drain and fill until 90K miles, it also won't fix your problem
yea, my whole car was how it came off the lot in '95 except for the oil, we bought it from my uncle who had the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" attitude. we changed everything for the first time at 153k and right after that is when my trans started acting up. you should have seen my distributor cap and rotor, I was amazed that it was still running as good as it did. and unless I'm mistaken shift flare describes the problem not the part that is bad.
