LS into a EF Hatch. Starting Probs now
Okay..
I did a MPFI swap into a 88 Hatch. I did all wiring BY THE BOOK, and made sure it was all correct.. a B18a1 now sits in the bay. All sensores plugged up.
I try to start it, and it like TRYS to start for about 1 sec (acts like its firing) then it just turns over as if its not getting spark. Its getting plenty of fuel, and i have checked the spark, and ALL fuses. I can hear the pump kick on, prime, then cut off. Main relay works also.
It ONLY trys to start on a PM6 ecu, and then when i try a PR4 Ecu, it doesnt even act like it wants to start..
From what i asked people, they said it was a crank position sensor. Timing is on, and correct. I tried another dizzy to troubleshoot, and it does the same thing.
Anyone else had a simular problem?

first you need to find out if you are getting spark and or injector pulse width, then you can go farther, untill those are established, theres nothing we can tell you.
could be a bad tps. not saying that's gonna fix your problem, but if my car was doing the same it would be one of the things i checked before ruling it out completely.
anyone?
Injector pulses once, then never again until i restart the ecu by turning key completely off, then turning back on.
I switched out main relays, and still does it.

doesnt the iat plug share the same style plug as another sensor? cant remember off the top of my head but when doing a mpfi conversion its easy to mix the two up...
also when it doesnt want to start with the pr4 tells me there is more then likely a wiring issue...

i have 1 ground coming off the tranny, 1 ground off the valve cover, and i KNOW there is a ground on the thermostat housing.
Any other grounds?
I did do wiring changes on the ECU for the MPFI setup.
But i did it by the book, and soidered it, then shrink wrapped it. So i highly doubt its my wiring. I OCD'd on that hoe

my budd did his wiring on the the ecu as well and thought he did it correct turns out he did it wrong, so go back to the changes made and make sure you read the pinouts at the ecu correctly and make sure this is all correct.

I had that same problem before WITH a B18a1 as well running on a PR4. Turned out to be a fuse. You can also check the yellow/black wires at the main relay.
