90 lx, main relay????
ok, i know i know.... but im new to the ef game.
90 civic lx 4 door automatic trans.
ok, heres the problem.
the car will run absolutly fine with no problems.
most of the time it will fire up.
some times the starter just spins and spins with no fire whatsoever.
now, it did it today, i pulled the plugs out and dried them up (due to fouled plugs)and noticed that the ends of them ( dizzy wire end) was caked in old oil.
i clean it off, and cleaned the plug wires off and it fired right up!!!
to make the story short, i bought the car with blown motor for 200 bucks. got another duel point for 150. got it running.i had to reuse the old shitty plug wires off the blown motor because of lack of funding.
now, will the oil caked spark plug ends cause the engine not to fie at all????
or, is this a simple case of the bad main relay blues.
also, i checked the main fuse in the box under the hood. the 50 amp is blown. somebody bypassed it and ran some shitty copper wire to make a connection. ill buy a new relay fuse tommorrow. but could this be a part of the problem?
and also, the key gets stuck in the ignition switch. i have to play with it for awhile to finally pry it out of the ignition switch. it wont let me get it out. could this be another problem?
it seems liek this car is full of problems. it was supposed to be a 500 dollar budget car, but it added up to a grand easily so far.

i'm about 99.99999999% sure it's gonna be your spark plugs. if they are caked in oil then it's gonna be very difficult to get the tips to spark. oil is not a good conductor of electricity, lol.
i'm about 99.99999999% sure it's not gonna be in the ignition. all the ignition does is send a signal to your starter to tell it to start cranking the motor. if it's doing that then it's doing its job. however i would look at getting it replaced just for the peace of mind of having your car like its supposed to be.
and you're getting the fuse fixed so that's one more thing out of the way.

if your fuel pump kicks on i think you could rule out the main relay under the dash, but id for sure get some new plug wires and new plugs couldnt hurt.
yeah, im going to get new plug wires hopefully pretty soon.
and i do hear the fuel pump kick on.
maybe an ignition problem also? ignition switch?

Youre getting ignition (eventually) so thats not the problem, unless you have a faulty contact. I'd go with new plugs and wires, and clean up the plug holes.
