HELP!! Head shaved to much...dual Headgasket fix tensioner noise?
Hello all,
My name is Ian. I recently purchased a 2001 Japanese model s2000 from my friend. The car has 69k+ kilometers on the clock. The bottom was recently rebuilt with new oem internals and the head while being handled was dropped so it had to be shaved. Apparently it was shaved to much and now im told that there is some slack in the timing chain hence why the car is making such a ticking sound and is apparently leaking oil at the matting point of the block and the head.
I have researched the ticking sound and came to the conclusion that it was the timing chain tensioner which i plan to change after the new head installation.
Has anyone ever had such an issue? what would be a proper fix for my problems? Buy a new head? Buy a thicker head gasket? Change the timing chain tensioner first then do the head install and listen if the sound is goes away?
Please help lol thanks in advance
I have been told that the thicker headgasket should suffice and to support this also researched and found......

..{quote}If the head is cut 0.050" the slack in the chain will increase by ~1/2" (hard to believe, but take a piece of string and test it for yourself).
The spring force will be reduced by 4.42 lb/in x .5 in. = 2.2 lbs.
This is a 13% reduction is total tensioner force and a 35% reduction in the force on the tensioner caused by the spring (at idle).....{quote}
Any feed back would be appreciate sorry for making this post long just trying to figure this cars issues out.

I dont know if I would use TWO headgaskets. I would suggest looking for a thicker than stock headgasket that someone would use to lower compression.
Use a thicker head gasket.
Also be sure the TCT is what's actually making the noise. It's a really fast sound. Twice as fast as valve tap. It sounds horrible! Youtube it to compare.
