s2k wont start.
hey everyone.
so i picked up an ap2 at an auction for cheap and i am trying to start it but it wont start. it turns over but wont turn on. i checked to see if i had spark on each coil and it turns out i do. im pretty sure im getting fuel because when i take out the spark plug it drips fuel. so now i dont know what to do. any help is appreciated. thanks

Might could be why the thing was cheap at an auction.
Hate to say, but it could be a bajillion different things. And since you probably don't have any history on the car, it's going to make diagnosis really tough on the internet.
But, even though it is turning over, put a battery booster on and try it again.
Otherwise: check compression; check grounds; check the ecu wiring harness...make sure no one hacked it up from installing a piggy-back etc.
Get an OBDII reader and see what it says as you try to turn the car over.

no theres actually a rolling code that has to match everytime you turn the key. if the key is not programmed it the ecu won't recognize it. almost like trying to start a car with a screwdriver.
it could be a bunch of things, but the fact that you got fuel and sparks tells me the key is fine. do a compression test and a fuel pressure test... good luck!!

Do a leak down test so you can see if it is valves or rings. If it's been sitting for a long time, the rings may have frozen...but usually that takes longer than 5 months.
after fixing the timing i finally got my car to start. but now i have a weird noise when i accelerate. like if theres something jumping around inside. lol.
so i turned the car back on and after accelerating lightly a few times the noise went away but now the car wont rev past 4k. like if it has a rev limiter. im gonna do a compression test tomorrow.
it could be a faulty sensor, connector or wiring... is the ckp sensor...

your compression is fine, so all you need to worry about is the ckp sensor. try to swap it and see what happens... if you have a friend with a s2k just borrow his for a minute and give it a try.
i'm not exactly sure it could be many many things... did you ever take off the valve cover, i really didn't read much of what you have done. if you did, did you see anything loose or misaligned?
the chain tensioner could be an issue if it's not pressurizing properlly... maybe that but its really hard to tell over the web... can you get a vid???
the pic has the cam chain tensioner on the botton left corner btw.
