Default killed a cylinder :( need advice/pitty/encouragement

well i was just doing some boost tunning, made a 25 psi pull which blew the line off of the fpr but checked the logs and the a/f was safe at 11:1 but the ign didnt get logged so i dont know where it was. anyway after the pull it started missing and idled rough like i lost a plug wire or something, checked and everything still connected and looking good on the surface so i did a power balance test with the ems (turned off injectors one at a time and watched for rpm drop) and saw no rpm change on cylinder 3.

so im thinkin i blew the rings but i left all my tools at work over the weekend so i cant do a compression test till mon night, i dont even have an extension to get the plug out so now i gotta hope and worry about it all night and day.

is there anything else it might be that im not thinking of right now (pretty pissed and not thinking clear) and if it is the rings how much damage is probably done and needs replaced? rings, piston, hone or more? bearings and rod should be ok right? god da******it im so fu***ing pissed im gonna go punch a hole in something...

Well... Are all the plug wires still in the dist?

hopefully you didnt hurt the pistons... afr are nice and rich...

The test doesn't mean anything yet. You could have burned up a spark plug and the motor would still be fine. Keep hoping.

well thanks for the encouragement but i just did a leak down and the results SUCK!!!!

i did the test on a cold engine. didnt want to run it to prevent any further possible damage.

cyl.1 has about 15% leaking past rings
cyl.2 has about 10% leaking past rings
cyl.3 has about 90% leaking past exhaust valves and about 15% past the rings (yes 105% )
cyl.4 has about 20% leaking between the rings and HG (sloooowly pushing coolant out of radiator

oh and the plug for #3 had a broken insulator with a small missing chunk, hopefully went through the exhaust without fu(kn up the turbine wheel.

help me outta this funk and dont lie but let me know what the best possible outcome could be. man this sucks

What does the strap of cylinder #3's plug look like? Is it still there? Bent? Broken? Vaporized?

looks normal, gap is still correct so it didnt get hit, color matches the other three although all four are a little speckled but i didnt hear any pinging (i will admit i wasnt checking my plugs as offten as i should have been), the tip of the insulator that broke was still floating around on the electrode kinda like a loose ring on your finger

just outta curiosity id like to know what other people with similar setups are running timing wise at 6000-6500 rpm and 20-25 psi?

my setup WAS a darton 84mm mid sleeved gsr block JE 9:1 teflon and ceramic coated pistons with an ls crank and a garrett gt4094r; gsr head with a mild pnp and full s2 pro series valve train with pro 1 cams

please tell me you degreed the cams in the motor ?

also if your rings are blown you will smoke smoke everywhere blueish in color from the oil burning. also test the coolant presure and test for contamination to see if you blow the head gasket.

how do you have over 100% leakdown in a cylinder?

I had the same thing occur to me, Not a simular setup but simular problem.

Turned out I cracked the ring lands, Everything else was fine except 95% loss with leak down on cyl3 and almost 0 compression lol

yes i degreed the cams and i know the head gasket is leaking because when i pressurize cyl 4 it pushes coolant out of the radiator.

i have over 100% leaking because i was EXAGGERATING. it shows about 95% leaking and i hear it all coming out the exhaust but when i test the other cylinders that are leaking past the rings you hear it come out the breather hole in the vc, well if you plug that hole it will build up pressure and you can hear it coming back up the spark plug hole in #3 hence the 15% to the rings.

yes #3 was at tdc and i went through the test 3 times just to confirm everything, not sure what you mean by the radiator ballooning?

im hopeful it could be something as simple as cracked rings but im not that optimistic

im really not ready to take the head off yet, im scared of what im gonna find, but maybe soon

thanks to all for the encouragement.

It sounds like you blew a headgasket and cracked the ring lands. hope your cylinder walls don't have any grooves or damage.

the radiator will "balloon" if you blow a headgasket bad enough,

look at your radiator and see if the sides look bulged out.
