Default Electrical gurus, shead some light on me...

all of this pertains to my 05 EP3:

for some reason my daytime running lights arent working (normal lights, city lights, and hi beams work) and my heater/ac isn't doing anything when i spin my dial (not blowing air at all). is there any relation between these two things? perhaps a relay is bad? all the fuses were checked and they're all fine. any help is appreciated. thanks

Did you do something that might have caused all of this to happen? Or did it just randomly stop working?

long story, brother installed my fogs (shitty ebay ones), they wouldn't work and sumhow they caused my dash to fry. so the other day i took my dash out opened it up saw where it was all burnt up so i resoddered it. dash works fine now. while i was doing the dash shiet, my bro was "troubleshooting" the fogs. i think he started messing with the wrong shiet cuz he turns on the car to test the fogs and i notice my daytime running lights didn't turn on, i opend the door and also notice the climate control wasn't blowing (it was on). so now i'm here. i got an electrician dude for cars gunna check it out today and hopefully fix it. i'm guessing its a relay.... fuses all check out fine

What exactly got burnt up when your brother tried installing the fog lights? Half of my cluster and dash lights do not work after I tried installing my ebay fogs. Sorry I don't mean to jack your thread, it just seems like I am having the same issue as you did and I can't figure out how to get the lights working again.

i have no idea what he burnt, but when i took my dash out and open'd the back to expose the "innerworkings" i notice in the top left hand corner of the dash there was a burn mark and the little metal flat "wires" that are under the green stuff was exposed and burn'd through so i re sodderd them back together and voala! but yea i don't know what's going on with my daytime running lights and blower motor. i checkd the blower motor and it is not getting power, but the fuses are still intact. should they blow before there is a short??? isn't that wheat fuses are for!!!!

O man, I see this all the time. Were you see the burnt wires is just the start. It could also be burnt in spot were you can not see. Soldering the spots that you can see and not checking the whole harness can lead to more problems. Your going to really have to pull the whole dash to make sure that there are not any others melted wires causeing a short. Hopefully the shorted out wires did not make it into the engine bay. Sounds like he taged some 12 volt wire that was not really 12 volt and ground out the fog lights.

Um... Crazy wiring FTL. Luckily between my foglights install (which I have since removed) and the installation of my HELLA supertones everything has been completely trouble free!!!!

But this weekend I am probably doing the interior lighting install. Already have lights and harnesses made up. Wish me luck guys!

As for your mess... Just start tracing every wire. Don't just look at them, feel the wire too. It could have burned it up inside the insulation so it looks fine. I wish you luck friend!

I just took my cluster apart and I had the same burn on my board. A friend of mine is going to repair it, so I will let you know afterward if I begin having the same issue with the blower.

BTW, EG-Kaos have you made any progress?
