as for what i use, i use basic plastic welding rods, air plastic welder, and just plastic most of the time from other damaged bumpers.
i could but i dont think you ganna wanna ship your bumper to the other side of the country for just that.
The two bumpers look amazing, I'd really like to try this as well, I prefer my plate mounted off to the side opposed to the run-of-the-mill center mount. A How-To video would be beneficial to everyone I'm sure.

honestly i couldnt tell you just because i dont know i got it from a buddy who had it in his garage for like 3 yrs, to make it fit i had to chop about 10" from the middle as well as melt and form the side to contour to the bumper.
thanks agian for the comments so far here are a few others i have done
this is actually my car i drive and the front bumper was one my frist attempt at plastic welding

the front bumper i made as well modifidy the front lip and made the side skirts

i have also almost finish some ek side skirts made to fit a del sol. will have pics soon
Man where do you get the supplies and the welder to do this? My si lip is off my car because of a curb. Broke my mounting tabs and I'd like to plati-weld them back.
you can buy the stuff from most tool and eguipment style stores like harbor frieght or northern tool but some place have stop carrying plastic welding for some reason. as for what your looking to do im not sure how well the platic welding would work just becuase the mountin tabs on the lil are the most flexable part on the lip and they are kinda thin but you might be able to make extra support for them as well.
started another project on a bumper my friend gave me for free so let me know what you think and enjoy

i know that feel i got a buddy with a jdm teggy front bumper i might buy just to mess around with and see if i can shave the front plate box on the bumper to give it a nice clean look
Seems like an awful lot of work to accomplish such a basic task.
Why not just fill the original holes, and then just relocate the plate over to that side?
I mean, it's cool I guess to have the "OE" mounting tabs there, but it's not like anybody is going to know those were used instead of just mounting the license plate there with regular license plate mounting hardware.

I have to disagree with this statement, it really depends on quality of filler your using and how you apply it. I filled my front plate holes in with glass and bondo and it came out just as good as plastic welding with about half the work. All I did was sand down the tabs with a orbital, glassed the back of the bumper, then layered the holes with bondo.
