I would say it's thread worthy. Most of the guys I ride with don't have their license.

Congrats on the endorsement.

Seems like most of the people I know who ride don't have endorsement. Most people see it as a kind of hang up and don't want to spend the money to take msf or can't/won't take/pass the dmv test. Its not like the boys at the dealership are checking and insurance companies aren't either. They should.

Whats an endorsement?

I got my bike before I got my permit, but I got my license only a month or so after I got my permit. yee.

An endorsement means I couldnt pass the damn DMV test, so I took a state approved motorcycle safety course in lieu of taking the DMV test.

An endorsement means that you have an extra certification attached to your license, not that you took the MSF instead of the DMV test. I have a class B M1 license w/a passenger endorsement, meaning I'm certified to drive a 14-passenger van above and beyond the typical class C license (had to take a test for that).

I, too, rode for a full year without earning the M1 endorsement on my license and wished I had done so sooner. It is pretty silly that insurance companies don't check.

Not really. In California a license is only needed if you want to go on the highway. Out here that is pretty much everywhere anyway though.

So you're saying people shouldn't get their license? Ya, screw it. Just keep renewing your permit.

And FYI, permit-holders in CA must stay on surface streets (no highway or freeway), must ride during the day, and may not ride 2-up.

License is required if you want to ride on the highway, ride at night, or ride with a passenger too ya know?

The comment wasn't really directed at you. I was just joking around. I work with alot of guys who want the endorsement but dont have it.

I actually traded my Honda Elite 80 for my coworkers GSX-R1000 for a day last year so he could get his endorsement. 100 mph in first gear, weeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!

^^ There's something ironic about people without licenses having bikes than can do 100 in first gear . . .

I did the opposite. I had my license over a month before I got my first bike.

My cousin is the same way, been having his license for 4 months now and still hasn't gotten a bike.
