Discount Tires SUCK!
So I was getting ready to attend a track event, and the last thing I needed to do was mount a set of Azenis on Spoon rims.
So I called around to get prices and ask if they can be hold accountable if anything goes wrong w/ the rims, Discount Tires said yes, "it shouldn't be a problem".
So I bring it down, and spoke to the store manager again. I told him verbatum, "If you guys CAN'T mount it without damaging it, let me know!" He reassured me that everything would be "fine".
The installer looked shady from the beginning, but one after another he kept on doing the same thing, until ALL 4 rims were damaged. At the very least he could have stopped after doing just one and have told me about the gashes! After he completed balancing one wheel (very shitty job then too) I just told him to stop right there, after the damage had been done.
I know some of you might want to flame me about worrying about this kinds of stuff, but it's the principle. Especially after asking the manager beforehand. This was the reply I got from them when I confronted them about the damage
"You can barely see that, it's not a performance issue"
"After a couple of day of driving, brake dust will fill that right in"
"it's the machine...I can't really do anything about it"
I'm supposed to speak to the district manager tommorow, but i'm pretty pessimistic.

I'm really sorry about what happened to your rims. I told the guy behind the counter to tell his guys to be really careful with my SSR Comps. Instead, he went back there and did it himself. There was not a single scratch on my rims. I hope that everything works out for you.

if it was on the face or the lip then that's a different story.. but that's the back of the wheel

At least the lip and the face of the wheel were spared!!!
How else are they supposed to do something like mount a tire on a rim, without physically/mechanicaly holding the rim?

It's not so much the damage, as it is the principle.
Honestly, the damage would not be enough to ruin my day under normal circumstances. I mean, it really doesn't seem that noticable.
However I would be livid that the store manager blew off my complaint the way he did. In principle it does not matter the extent of the damage. What matters is that he assured you that the wheels would not be damaged at all or that if they were they would accept responsibility. To go back on that, regardless of the damage done, is dishonest. And dishonesty is an unforgivable sin.

From the way he acts, you would think I attacked him.

Is any of the damage visible when the wheels are mounted on the car?
I understand your concerns, after spefically asking them to be careful.. but if you can't see it, who's gonna know? It shouldn't really hurt their value at all, I don't think.

Actually, we's just adding to our own post counts, and would eat our own young if we were in that kind of mood!
If you were aware of some of the characters involved, you'd realize it's just fun and games.
