fuel pump
i have a 2003 civic with 57,000 miles. car wouldnt start lastnight. my uncle came over he said sounded like not getting fuel. he tapped on the gas tank as i turned the key over and it started after 2 taps. said sounded like fuel pump was going up. does this sound correct? please help
unlike most vehicles, the 7th gen civic's fuel pump assembly differs ... there is no outer attachment that would need changing ... the pump is located inside the gas tank and RARELY needs to be changed as the fuel system differs from those standard vehicles in which the fuel pump should be regularly replaced .... although there are chances of a faulty fuel pump and it might be something to look into ... the fuel pump assembly on the 7th gen is located inside the fuel tank and needs a little TLC to gett to and address
this could be a clogged fuel filter.
fuel pump as well.
have someone start the car and listen to how it sounds from the back, you can hear the pump at work. I think its inside the car underneath the rear seats.

I highly doubt it's a clogged filter, unless you've been putting some pretty nasty fuel in your car. The 7thgen has a very low-maintenance fuel system that's pretty different from what most mechanics are used to.
