I'm looking at the Skunk2 Catback exhaust for my GS-R, and I noticed that you can get a silencer for it. Where exactly does the silencer go and is it an easy on/off install? How much does the silencer quiet the exhaust note?

 

It goes into the exhaust hole in the muffler. There is a little screw that goes on the bottom of the muffler tip that fastens it. You do lose some performance aspects of the exhaust when you silence it. And yes, it is easy to remove\put on.

I have a silencer for my Apex'i N1T exhaust system. Gets a little raspy at times. But much nicer than a loud fart out the exhaust.

 

I never use my silencer on my Tanabe RM. I nice going to the court house for an exhaust ticket, winning, and leaving w/ a deep tone.
