I would think you would be able to DIY. Buy an ebay CAI and a BPI flowstack with a K&N filter.

whatever you do stay away from the turbonator though. "You'll blow yourself to pieces".

http://www.ntpog.org/mods/fifth-inta...h-intake.shtml is a good tutorial on how to do this. I would suggest getting a short ram intake though as you will have to cut a hole in the car to fit a cold air intake. The hole has to be cut to fit the intake tube into the wheelwell. It's all the same **** anyway.

This is a great tutorial to use, unfortunately, the rest of what you said is not true. The 5th gen Prelude already has a hole leading down to the wheel well. It's even documented in the tutorial. Now, you might have to enlarge or widen the hole a little to get your tube to fit, but that's rather simple. As for it all being the same, wrong again. The SR and CAI provide different amounts of HP/TQ at different RPM ranges. Look at some dynos to determine which you prefer. There are several tests here on H-T.

how will a turbonator blow yourself up? its just a little fan in your intake? it gives like what 1/2 psi?

Me personally i stay away from cold air intakes I would go with a short ram that stops right behind the passenger headlight so i dont have to worry about suckin water up as much.

It's been said that the bypass valve defeats the purpose of having a CAI. Physics dictates that the path of least resistance will be taken.

I doubt cramming a computer fan into your intake will add any PSI. Afterall, wind doesn't travel faster just because it hits a windmill.

Choosing not to submerge your car in water is also a good way to avoid hydrolock.

3yrs with my AEM CAI and no problems(no bypass valve either). I drive in rain, heavy rain, whatever. Just be smart and avoid huge puddles.
