Horizontal bandsaw blades.
This might have been covered before.
I'm just wondering what people are using, and roughly how long they last.
On sch 10 i use a 14tpi carbon steel blade with a rigged up coolant supply and i get a fair few cuts from it.
If i use sch 40, and particularly on collectors its an absolute nightmare. It takes an age to cut and the blades are dull after just a couple of cuts.
I'm wondering if i should go to a 10tpi blade, different speed, or a bi metal blade?

i just installed an HF bimetal blade i think its 10-14tpi and i made a few cuts with it yesterday and it cuts super smooth and pretty fast. then again, it was only 16ga tubing.
I use a morse matrix II on my lame jet bandsaw. Made the bandsaw go from lame to a much nicer unit. Cuts nice and fast, and lasts a long time. My first and last blade I used for a couple months and i ended up seizing it and bending the blade causing it wobble so I replaced it before it was even worn out.
I've been using Starrett in the past, but they've stopped making them for my size bandsaw now so i'm looking for a new supplier.
I've used 5 of the new type in the last couple of days.
There is a Lenox dealer in the UK so i've just sent them an Email.

You should be able to find a mill supply that is capable of making or able to special order the blades to you spec. I have always found that 18tpi is a good cutting blade both from a speed point of view and also a long lasting one. It also works as a good all around tooth count so your not changing blades all the time. 14tpi will cut faster but will be more prone to ripping teeth off the blade. Bimetal blades will be much more expensive to buy but outlast a normal one 20+ times over in the right hands.
