1990 Accord Transmission Hesitation
My 90 Accord has about 160,000 miles. After about 15 miles, the car hesitates to accelerate from a stop or while cruising in 4th gear. The car shudders momentarily when you attempt to accelerate (it does not feel like an engine hesitation problem - feels like the power is not getting to the wheels). Once the car gets going the transmission shifts and accelerates with no problem. I am the original owner and have changed the fluid regularly.
Any ideas? Thanks.
Update - took it to the dealer and took them for a drive in it. They said most likely it needs to have a used or rebuilt transmission installed as they do not open them up. The cost would be more than the car is worth. Still welcome alternate ideas.

Sit back and wait for "Hondadude" 's diagnosis.
He's sort of a big deal on this forum.
BTW My 1990 accord dx does the same thing. IDK , I just thought it did that because the car is about 20 years old.

I went ahead and changed the fluid hoping that some fresh additives would fix the problem, but it did not. The fluid looked good. There was less metal filing gunk on the drain plug than I usually see when I change the fluid, but the gunk was black instead of silver like it was in the past. Not sure what that means.
Everythings fine until it gets warm. Then at low rpm in any gear it shudders when you give it some gas. I'm wondering if this could be a transmission cooling problem?
Thanks in advance for any ideas.
