18 inch rims on Type R
This board is notorious for hardcore racers but I'm really curious as to what your opinions are on this car since I want to buy his mags.
Since I don't race on the street, why not have a great looking car by putting 18s on it. It takes twenty minutes to change tires for a day at the track.

1) nice jdm dubs.
2) they will definately have a heavy hit on hp. ever wonder what having 120 whp on a type r feels like and braking like a 18 wheeler?
3) tires are expensive as hell.
4) potholes? worry ...even with forged rims...
dont do it!

oh my god is that custom interior, leather, dropped beyond belief?? Why get an ITR if your going to do that to it??? Why not save money and get a gs-r. That person killed the special interior, special suspension, and the handling charateritics of the car by having such large rims. People know and respect R owners because they are pure racers through and through. We brought a street legal race car to race not show.
My cars moddo is "All go no show"

That guy is exceptionally low. I agree that the Type R should not be built into a show only car. There is nothing wrong with having a show ITR as long as you can still do a quick transformation back to the race car. I drove that car and wasn't even able to turn the wheel 1/4 of the way!!
My car will not be that low. I only have a 1.6 inch drop. I will need to roll the fenders though.
Here is my car:

With my sponsors: I had three cars done up to promote my site.

Why not? I don't RACE on the street and you shouldn't either.
BTW you stated in another thread that you won't have your car for much longer so why are you buying wheels????
Much longer being a year or so. I can always keep or sell the rims. If the RSX-R doesn't come out I will probably keep my car. I don't see anything else that interests me.
I actually had those same wheels on my Civic (Volk TE-37's) for 1 week. They were 17's though, not 18's. As far as looks go, I really liked the way they looked, as they are great looking wheels (and light too). But that is where it ended. The problem is I also love to drive my car (now own an ITR), and those wheels KILLED the Civic (driving wise). As stated above, it felt like my hp was cut in HALF. Not to mention a 3 point turn, now became a 6 point turn. So here is my take, you have to decide if you want to be show or go, and the ITR was designed to be driven. It is your car, so it is up to you, but personally I love everything about my R the way it is, and appreciate it more and more each time I drive her.
my eyes, the goggles, they do nothing !!!
Seriously though, I wouldn't go with anything bigger than 17's for show. Just protection of the rim and 18 doesn't look that much bigger than the 17.
Those rims look like ****.
They make the car into a caricature, and do nothing but degrade both the performance and practical drivability by a very large degree. They do nothing good.
I'd wear a dress before I'd do that to my car.

Yor choice man, you already seem set on it, so go do it. Most people here are just going to flame you because you're going to take the fun out of driving it everyday on regular roads, and I'm not talking about racing, I'm talking about highway on-ramps, twisty roads, etc...
Has anyone seen JDM 2002 ITR wheels on the USDM ITR? This the other choice that is nagging me.
Regarding the 18s, consider this: You may and most-likely will regret it for numerous reasons.
