Icon7 H22/H23 jdm bluetop vtec oil pressure

hey whats up guys i own a 1998 honda prelude i swapped out my h22a4 for a h23 jdm bluetop vtec the motor off the 98 accord sir...and as soon as i slipped it on my oil light has not turned off so i bought a new oil pump cuz i figured out there is no oil pressure i have not bought a gauge to see what its at but me and my friend took off the valve cover and its way obvious the oil is not getting up to the head and my cams were grinding a bit....so its a brand new oil pump....so im in a daze!

Does anyone know why else i might have this oil pressure problem i know its not the pump i just bought it brand new out the box..help please...also i didnt put on the balancer shaft belts that has nothing to do wit it right?

Cool swap! You can check the OIL PICK-UP screen on the bottom of the oil pan. It may be plugged up with sludge.

bad bearings can cause low oil pressure

ya i know i love the freakin swap up until this problem lol but i checked the oil pick up screen no sludge we checked that when we removed the oil pan....

And ill check the bearings im sure they would be fine though but then again i dont know the history of the motor and how well it was taken care of by its previous owners...

Any other suggestions would really help guys thanks

make sure you have enough clearance between the bottom of the oil pan and pick-up screen.

ya bro there is enough clearance...the oil pan is bigger for an h22a4 then the one the motor came wit so im using the h22a4 one not a whole lot bigger but a lil bigger...

Does anyone know anything else that might prossibly have to do with oil pressure other the the oil pump....like what else helps circulate the oil anything of that sort?

is there TOO much clearance from the pickup to the pan. If its not submerged in oil....that could be bad

First check the oil pick-up. If that's ok, remove the oil-pump and check the clearances against the spec.

well i cant use the h22a4 pick up cuz i sold the motor already... so thats out...

And no the pan is not that big the oil pick up is submerged....the oil pan is only bout quarter of an inch deeper if that....

Well the oil pump was just installed so we checked everything to make sure it was all good...but ill double check... in the mean time more suggestions will really help..i have a feeling its gonna be something kinda hard to figure out...im just hoping i didnt get a faulty motor..

nobody has said this, but have you changed your oil filter??

they have one-way valves in them and it could fail, or it could be altogether the wrong filter,

when you have the filter off, check to see if the oil cooler is plugged.

ya when i dropped the motor in i did a complete oil change and put new spark plugs in it..not the works but stuff that i thought were pretty important...
just yesterday i hooked up an oil gauge it read nothing it stayed right at "0" then i took it off and let the hose just sit there turned the car on and not a drip of oil came out...and i hooked it up to right spot right where the oil sensor is at...
I talked to derreck from parris and he suggested something that someone else already did and thats to check my bearings so hopefully i do that this week... cuz i screwed up when i ran the motor with that light on for a while im sure there shot....it freaking sucks....
The only thing that makes me think is that oil light has been on since i first swapped the motor so they had to have been shot when i bought the motor.
