Default Transmission Question

I have an 89 EF Hatch with a bored out D15B7 Block with a D16Y8 head. The tranny is the 89 DX 4 speed manual. The car is currently running on a Chipped P-28 ECU. When i get on it and shift from 1st to 2nd it feels like the car dies. Is this because the P-28 ECU is for a 5-speed Tranny? What should i do? SI Transmission?

Do you think that ECU is noticing it and causing the problem? Would the SI tranny be the best way to go?

FYI the ECU has no idea what transmission you have.

Try looking for potential problems i.e. your tune...

Do you really think it needs a tune for just having a stock head a built bottom end and all? Do you think that it needs Dyno time and all? I have the P-28 ECU. What chip and tune should i do? Hondata? Im not sure. Thank You

you need the 5spd tranny your ecu could use a tune but the reason it feels like it dies is because it have to drop so low because of the long *** gears in the 4 spd, get the 5spd si would be best

Thank You soo much. That is exactly what i thought. I just got ahold of an SI Tranny with new clutch. So i will be installing that and hopefully it will be faster and good to go. Thank You guys and i will keep you posted after the holidays how much different it feels. The only reason i thought the tranny and not the ecu is because in 1st gear the car is wild. It gets up and goes.
