anyone else take off their shoes when driving?
heh.
this isnt some asian thing about household manners either, and I'm not a psycho like that character in the show on USA, Monk
I find I can control the pedals much better, as well as heel toe excellently if i go shoeless.
Just wondering if anyone else does this, and if track officials would allow this to happen at HPDE events...
i know some r-speed members at the last meet questioned why i take my shoes off

I go shoeless when I have the chance. If feels like you have more control over the pedals and where they are. Like, your feet can wrap grip the pedals better...good stuff.

I do too... I fell like I have more control over the throttle and brake- I know it is illegal here in Ohio, so I would guess that at any race event it would not be allowed

yea i drive barefoot. i wear sandals most of the time or just walk around like a bum with no shoes. it lets me feel the pressure on the pedals easier. i have the mugen pedals which feel great barefoot, imo. when i autocross i just take my sandals off before i leave the gate. for hpde's i don't think they would approve of barefeet or sandles
You should buy some flat/thin soled running shoes. . . driving without shoes is illegal in most states, definitely in NJ. . .
i like driving with shoes >>>> the pressure fromt he pedal is spread more evenly across the entire foot.
My dad used to do that. He claimed he couldn't "feel" the clutch with shoes on.
I feel shorter when i drive without my shoes for some reason...I only do it when I go out in slippers, if I'm wearing tennis shoes, it's too much of a hassle to take it off and put it back on when I get out of the car.
you do get a better feel from the pedals but i only drive w/ no shoes when it's blazing hot.........like every damn day this summer
Holly smokes!!! I thought it was just me!!! I drive without shoes 90% of the time. It all started way back when growing up at the beach, it was only natural to wear flip flops year round. So when I started driving, I would take them off once in the car, and have done so ever since. I never really thought about it being an advantage until I read this thread, but now that I do think about it, I actually like driving barefoot. BTW, is it seriously illegal to drive without shoes in some states? I have never hear of such a law..
I'm looking to find some good racing shoes right now actually.... though I'm not real keen on driving bare-foot, though I do it occasionally. I still think I get better control from some sneakers that have little material and not a lot of garbage on the sole.
where do you look for good racing shoes? OMP/Simpson? Do they amplify the feel and ability to heel-toe much better?
